So for now, I’ve opted to go with Michael Tyson’s Wordpress theme, Elegant Grunge. I kicked the can around what I wanted to do with the site, but I just kept coming back to this theme. Since I just couldn’t get myself to come up with anything better, I decided to give in and use the theme as it is. This is a first for me. I always make changes to the themes I use. I can’t think of a time when I didn’t do anything, not even an original title graphic! Maybe if I find myself with some time I’ll put a little effort forth and come up with at least a little something original.
None the less, I like the simple look of this. It’s got a little personality, but it’s muted and I’ve been thinking I wanted to go to dark text on a lighter background, instead of the reverse which is what I’ve used in almost every version of the Lousy Poet to date!
So here it is for now. It’s a change, and I can live with it. I think that’s all I really need for now.

So in an effort to increase my pagerank (which is failing miserably because I’m now a 0 from a 1), I’ve joined a group to trade links. This is cool to me, as it directs me to blogs I might not have otherwise seen, and it also means that people come to visit my site who probably wouldn’t have otherwise been by. So today, I ask for the site I’m to give a visit and I’m sent to express yourself. Only, there’s nothing there except a big message from Wordpress stating;
This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service
So what the hell do you have to do in order to get suspended by Wordpress? I guee they’re against hate and porn, but I can’t imagine this site being listed as part of the exchange if it contained those things. I’m curious, I have to say. Half the reason I’m still posting the link is so I can go back and see if the site has come back up and what all the hullabaloo was about!

I’m not sure what is going on. Every now and then I get a 403 Forbidden error through either my blog or using the admin application. My email works, as do the other sites hosted on my hosting service, so it seems to be an issue with Wordpress. Anyone heard of this? Is it a bug I need to squash? For now I guess I’ll just keep an eye on it and see what happens.

In July, I mentioned that Wordpress 2.6 was on the horizon (naturally it launched shortly thereafter). Coming now in November is Wordpress 2.7. While 2.6 was a refinement of 2.5, which was a total rebuild of Wordpress, 2.7 looks to be more of a new rebuild once again. Wordpress has been hosting surveys on layouts of navigation schemes and much more.
While I really respect the fact that the Wordpress development team is asking for the communitie’s input, I have to wonder, just how necessary is a total new rebuild of Wordpress when the last major build, 2.5, was only released in March or so of this year?
I don’t mind the layout 2.5 gave us. Not to mention that all the plugins I depend on continued to function just fine thank you very much during the conversion. I’m hoping that 2.7 is a major cosmetic change, but that the functioning stays essentially the same so it doesn’t muck up my site. I know I have the option of staying with what I have, but I’m one of those people that needs to have the newest and latest (especially when it’s free!).
Anyway, if you use Wordpress, and want to have a say in the new build, check out http://wordpress.org/development/2008/09/wordpress-2-7-survey-no2/

So I was quite dissatisfied with my website for The Lousy Poet web comic strip. While looking around the net at other web comics, I noticed a site that said it was powere by Wordpress with the Comic Press theme. So I did a little leg work, and let me say, this theme is great! It does so much of the work for me in terms of linking the different strips together and allows me to do some blogs and for people to comment on each of the works.
This will still be my main blogging area. I can’t leave this place behind, especially after cracking the ceiling on 100 posts, but I can atleast keep posts that have to do specifically with the web comic over there (though I’ll probably copy them here too
You can visit the official site for The Lousy Poet comic at http://thelousypoet.com to see previous strips and comment on each.

So there’s some brand-spanking new version of Wordpress on the horizon. Apparently it is a complete rebuild from the ground up. Some of the features sound great, like a customizable dashboard, an integrated gallery and an overall refinement of the navigation. I like what I’ve seen from the screen shots and blurbs, but with all the customizations I’ve thrown at this, I worry that such a big upgrade is going to throw all of them off. I suppose I’ll wait and see what people say once the stable release comes out. If you’re interested you can check it out at

So Wordpress is advertising their branded hoody. Now, I like a good, warm, comfy hoody as much as the next guy, and Carolyn loves them, but don’t you think it’s a little bland? Navy blue with the boring old WordPress logo? Couldn’t you have graphic designed that one a little?
If you’re looking for really cool apparel to declare your internet love, head over to http://prints.deviantart.com/darelated/deviantwear/ for some Deviant Art wear! This stuff is so cool, and seeing as how it’s an art site, they really go all out on some of these designs! You can even buy a plush doll of their little mascot!
Anyway, that will conclude my shameless product pimping for tonight (geez, and I don’t even get commission off sales of this stuff…)
