So this weekend we finally got some decent, warm, weather. We were sitting out on our back deck looking at the disaster that we call a backyard and I started thinking about all the work that it was going to take to remove the dead shrubs, trees, weeds, and get it setup so that we have a functional backyard that we can use. I might even look into some new outdoor furniture to liven up the patio. We’ll see. The budget took a pretty hard hit as we picked up a swing set for the kids.

So I wrote my article on The Hannah Montana Movie just a few days ago. Though I’ve been allergic for years, seeing scenes of people riding horses across fields just made me yearn to try such a thing. It just looks so liberating.

I actually have a co-worker who owns a horse. It seems like a pretty expensive thing to do, but she just seems so fulfilled by it. Buying equipment like breeches , saddles and horse blankets must seem daunting, but that feeling of freedom and connection with such a powerful force of nature must be worth every penny.

It’s a sad reality of today’s economy that layoffs are occuring enmasse. With this challenge, there may come a window of opportunity. By searching online websites for university classes and courses by subject, you might find a new direction to take that will lead to an exciting change of career! Certainly the prospect of returning to school is frightening, but in many cases you might even be able to obtain government funding. So while these times are hard, perhaps this is the universe’s way of forcing you into a new and better direction!

If you could wouldn’t it be nice to live along the coast? Maybe buy up some Wilmington NC real estate? We’re living in a townhouse right now. That dream of land and having a wide lawn for the kids to play on is a distant, if not impossible, dream. But at least we have a house. That’s more than I can say for a lot of unfortunate people in our current economic situation.

The Porto Vista Hotel & Suites is a downtown San Diego hotel ideally located in the historic Little Italy area. It’s close to numerous attractions, and might just be a great place to stay if you’re lucky enough to be going to Comic Con 2009! The comic event to end all comic events, it’s one of those things on my bucket list to go to. The hotel I’ve mentioned is a boutique hotel, so I guess it depends on your budget, but it also has;

The current state of the economy is pretty frightening. Every day there seem to be more and more layoffs. You may be one of the unfortunate many who has lost their job. But with the internet, there are thankfully lots of sites to help find new employment. Some of these even sprecialize in a particular job category. If you were looking for jobs in programming there’s a site like TechCareers.com for instance. Let’s face it, times are tough, so use all the resources at your disposal to get through!

I have this site that you can buy wholesale ipods. Buying these hot items at wholesale would allow for some healthy profits off of Ebay or similar sales sites. Not only that, but you could keep one for yourself! But there’s also a ton of other items you can pick up at liquidation prices. If you’re feeling a bit entrepreneurial, head over.

I really do like sites that give you multiple quotes for the same items. It’s such a hassle to shop around, but on the other hand, in today’s economy you can’t give up the chance of a great deal.

So about a year ago, my son decided that he needed to use the bathroom upstairs. When it wouldn’t all flush, his logical 7 year old mind made the simple conclusion that additional flushes were needed. When the water started flowing over the top, he panicked and locked the bathroom door. And so, copious amounts of water flowed throughout our house, forcing us out for over six weeks while repairs were made. At the time, we didn’t have any extended stay hotels in our area, so having the luxury of a microwave in the Holiday Inn Express was a big deal. The upside of the story is that a lot of work we were going to do, ended up being done for us through insurance. Almost the entire house was repainted, which was beautiful seeing as how the previous owner had a thing for pink and purple! Oh well, every situation has a silver lining…
